Teresa Barnett

Teresa was admitted as a solicitor in 2008 but has practised Family Law exclusively since 2005 giving her 19 years of experience.

Teresa advises clients on all aspects of family law, with a particular focus on complex financial disputes arising out of divorce, civil partnership dissolution and the separation of cohabiting couples. Her financial cases often have an international dimension, at times involving trusts. When her cases have a business element, such as a family business or shareholding, she works closely with an accountant to value the business and look at various options for the parties to consider on settlement. Teresa also deals with pre and post nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and disputes.

Teresa has experience in cases requiring emergency protection for children and adults. Her practice encompasses disputes about how children should spend their time, relocation cases and she provides advice on complex children issues where allegations of abuse have been raised. Teresa’s expertise includes:-

  • Marriage and civil partnership

  • Divorce and separation

  • ToLATA Applications

  • Cohabitation agreements

  • Financial remedy

  • Domestic violence and protective orders

  • Children arrangements application

  • Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements
